Title: Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) and Mental Illness

What is the purpose of the study?
     CAMH is conducting a study to understand the views of people living with mental health challenges, and their families, about Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) when the sole reason for the request is mental illness. MAiD for mental illness in Canada will be on hold until March, 2023. Researchers at CAMH want to hear the voice of people with lived experience of significant mental health challenges in their own lives or in the life of a loved one.

Who is needed?
     Individuals with: 1)Ontario residents, 2)18 years of age, or older, 3)Have a close family member (i.e. parent, sibling, partner, child) who lives with significant mental, health challenges
     Individuals without
a mental health or
addiction problem: 

Yes

     Age range: over age 18
     Gender: All
     Ethnicity: Racialized.
     Other:

Gender-diverse individuals are strongly encouraged to participate.

What does the study involve?
     Number of contacts:  3 phone/video calls
     Time period:  1-2 weeks
     Length of contacts: About 2 hours in total
